It's safe to say that visiting Iceland should be on just about everyone's bucket list! It has the highest concentration of waterfalls (home to over 10,000!), the largest puffin population in the world, the biggest glacier in Europe, and it's the safest country in the world... should I go on?

Iceland has become one of our favorite countries to visit, and I'm 99.9% sure it'll become one of yours too!

Here are 10 reasons why Iceland should be on your bucket list!

01) You Can Walk Behind a Waterfall

If walking behind a waterfall wasn't already on your bucket list, Iceland will fix that real quick! And yes. Iceland is home to thousands of waterfalls, but getting to actually stand behind one is something you don’t get to do in many places around the world.

02) You Can Explore an Ice Cave

Looking at a glacier is already amazing, but actually getting to walk INSIDE of one is an adventure in itself! Ice caves are one of the coolest experiences you can have in Iceland, and I promise you've never seen that color blue before.

03) Iceland's South Coast

Often called the most beautiful travel route in all of Iceland (which is saying A LOT ), the South Coast has waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, glacier lagoons, lush landscapes, incredible hikes, and some of the most unforgettable stops in the country all on one small stretch of road.

04) Midnight Sun

There are very few places on Earth where you can experience 24 hours of daylight in the summer, and Iceland is one of them. The sky stays bright almost all night long, and from around midnight to 3 AM, everything glows in the dreamiest golden light... which also means more photo ops!

05) Northern Lights

As if the midnight sun wasn’t enough, Iceland also has another one of the world’s most beautiful natural phenomenons... the northern lights.

The northern lights are on almost everyone’s bucket list, and it’s easy to see why. They’re breathtaking! During the winter, you’ll have the chance to see them for yourself, which just proves that no matter what season you visit Iceland, there’s always some kind of natural magic going on.

06) Puffins

Puffins are arguably the cutest birds to exist and Iceland happens to be home to the largest puffin colony in the world! During the summer, you can spot these little cuties all over the country before they head back out to sea for the winter.

07) Icelandic Hot Dogs

Leave it to Iceland to somehow make a hot dog feel special. Trust me on this one: order it eina með öllu, AKA one with everything!

08) You Don't Have to Worry About Dangerous Wildlife

Nope, it’s not a myth! There are no bears, no poisonous snakes, no spiders, or really anything else to worry about while you’re out exploring in Iceland. So you can just enjoy the views with total peace of mind... which honestly sounds like a dream, right?!

09) The Icelandic Highlands

If you're an adventurer (like us!), the Icelandic Highlands is the place to be... you can make an entire trip out of it. It's completely uninhabited and full of colorful mountains, mossy volcanic fissures, hidden waterfalls, and home to some of the most otherworldly landscapes in the country.

10) Iceland's Hot Springs

Sure, you’ve heard of the Blue Lagoon, but that’s only scratching the surface. Iceland is full of hot springs, spas, hot pots, and geothermal pools that are spread across the country. In my opinion, soaking in one surrounded by Iceland’s landscapes is reason enough to book the trip.
